From July 10 to 12, 2024, the World Academicians' Forum on Advanced Science and Technology 2024 was held at Nanjing University Suzhou campus. Co-hosted by Nanjing University and the Association of British Chinese Professors (ABCP), the forum was a platform for top experts from China and abroad to exchange and share cutting-edge scientific insights, and expand international scientific cooperation. Over 30 academicians gathered to discuss advancements and future trends in the fields of life sciences, new materials, and new energy.
Liu Xiaotao, Secretary of the Suzhou Municipal Committee of the CPC, congratulated the success of the forum and warmly welcomed the guests. He expressed his hope that the forum would promote global collaboration to address shared challenges and contribute to scientific innovation and industrial prosperity.
On behalf of NJU, Tan Tieniu, Secretary of the CPC NJU Committee, expressed his sincere welcome to all the guests. He hoped that this forum would serve as a catalyst to promote technological innovation, integration of industry and research, and talent cultivation.
Dong Hongbiao, President of ABCP, thanked Suzhou City and Nanjing University for hosting the forum. He looked forward to the participating experts and scholars engaging in in-depth dialogues to explore global technological development trends for a healthier, greener, and more sustainable world.
During the forum, eight professors from the UK, Germany, and Australia were appointed as distinguished visiting professors at Nanjing University.
Keynote speeches by academicians focused on topics such as disease and pharmaceuticals, composite materials, flexible electronic materials, and international scientific cooperation.
Gao Fu, Academician of CAS and International Member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences (NAS) delievered a keynote speech.
John Loughhead, International Academician of the CAE and Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, delievered a keynote speech.
Rao Zihe, Academician of the CAS and Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, delievered a keynote speech.
John Dear, Fellow of Royal Academy of Engineering, delievered a keynote speech.
Huang Wei, Academician of the CAS and Foreign Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, delievered a keynote speech.
Throughout the forum, various thematic sessions were held, including forums on life and health, new energy, new materials, and carbon neutrality, providing a comprehensive platform for experts and scholars to explore frontier scientific topics.
The participanting academicians also planted trees and visited industrial innovation bases.
