On October 28, Ding Aijun, Assistant President of Nanjing University met with Lilian Ferrer Lagunas, Vice President of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (UC Chile) at Xianlin Campus.
Ding wamly welcomed Lilian Ferrer and appreciated UC Chile's support for the Confucius Institute (CI) jointly established by the two universities. He introduced NJU's Artificial Intelligence General Education Core Courses (AIGECC) and the development of NJU Suzhou Campus. He also shared NJU's international education programs and extended an invitation to UC Chile's faculty and students to participate in these programs.
Lilian Ferrer highlighted that UC Chile is among the most influential institutions in Latin America, and expected her hope for further cooperation in more fields with NJU.
During the meeting, both parties agreed to advance cooperation in areas such as Earth Science, and Theater and Performance Studies. They also discussed various forms of cooperation, including summer schools, dual PhD degree programs and joint symposia.
The Confucius Institute, co-established by NJU and UC Chile, has been sharing Chinese language and culture in Chile since its founding in 2008. It was honored with the 2018 “Global Confucius Institute of the Year” Award. Each year, NJU sends undergraduate students from the School of Foreign Studies to UC Chile. Since 2022, several exchange students from UC Chile have come to study at NJU.
