From September 1 to October 10, 2024, Professor Guang-Rong Shi, Head of the School of Earth, Atmospheric and Life Sciences at the University of Wollongong, visited Nanjing University. Invited by Prof. Shuzhong Shen and Prof. Yukun Shi from the School of Earth Sciences and Engineering (SESE).
During his visit, Prof. Shi brought a collection of valuable brachiopod fossils and guided students on brachiopod taxonomy. Additionally, he attended field trips to Hubei, Sichuan, and Xinjiang. During these trips, the reseach group collected amounts of Permian samples, laying the groundwork for future collaborative research.

Prof. Shi conducted two lectures titled "How to Write a Scientific Paper and Get it Published? " and "Tectonobiogeography: Principles, Methods, and Applications." Both lectures attracted lots of participants from SESE and relative departments.

Prof. Shi also had discussions with Prof. Shen's team about establishing a brachiopod database, conducting cutting-edge paleobiogeographical studies, and exploring the feasibility of launching an international undergraduate field course in 2026.
