On October 9, Tan Zhemin, President of Nanjing University and Academician of the CAS met Jacques Frémont, President of the University of Ottawa (uOttawa) and his delegation at Xianlin Campus. They exchanged views on cooperation in areas such as law and sociology.
On behalf of NJU, Tan warmly welcomed the delegation. He briefly introduced NJU, covering its history, disciplines, talent cultivation, research innovation, and global engagement strategy. In recent years, NJU has been promoting a global engagement strategy and launched a series of new measures to promote international cooperation. NJU has already established close cooperative relationships with many Canadian universities and achieved significant results in areas such as scientific research and student exchanges. He expected more cooperation between NJU and uOttawa.
Jacques Frémont introduced uOttawa's features, disciplines and international collaboration. The uOttawa values its collaborations with Chinese higher education institutions and would like to deepen exchanges and cooperation with NJU. He hoped that the two univerisities would take practical stepts to increase faculty and student interactions, and promote mutually beneficial cooperation.
The delegation also visited the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences.
