From July 15 to August 9, a select group of 27 undergraduate students from NJU Medical School participated in a global scientific and research training program in Perth, Australia. This initiative, in collaboration with the University of Western Australia (UWA), represents a strategic effort of the school to enhance the medical education and incorporate global perspectives into its training system.
During the first week at UWA, students gained a comprehensive understanding of Australia's community medical system. They engaged in specialized courses on medical research methods, research ethics, and scientific writing. Over the following three weeks, students were divided into various research groups and laboratories for concentrated study. Some students had the opportunity to receive practical training in clinical settings, further deepening their understanding of the latest trends in the global biomedicine field as well as the process of experimental design and medical experimentation.
The program also featured a homestay experience, allowing students to immerse themselves in the multicultural and international atmosphere of Perth. Warmly welcomed by local families, students gained insights into the Australian lifestyle and culture, enhancing their international outlook and cross-cultural communication abilities.
