State Environmental Protection Engineering Center for Organic Chemical Industrial Wastewater Disposal and Resources Reuse

State Environmental Protection Engineering Center for Organic Chemical Industrial Wastewater Disposal and Resources Reuse was established in July 2008. Under the guidance of the National Ministry of Environmental Protection, Environmental Protection Department and Provincial Science & Technology Department of Jiangsu Provincial, the center has been built up with Jiangsu NJU Environmental Technology Co., Ltd. as its main supporter, Nanjing University and Jiangsu Provincial Research Academy of Environmental Sciences as its close partners, by a jointly establishment method. In May 2012, the center was officially accepted and it passed the performance evaluation with a good grade in 2016.

The center focuses on the research, development, evaluation, screening and application of the engineering technologies for organic chemical wastewater treatment and resources reuse, including the following aspects specifically: 1) engineering development and system integration of the valuable research achievements, promoting their industrialization. 2) development, demonstration and promotion of technologies for the treatment and resources reuse of the low-degradability and high concentration organic wastewater. 3) pollutant detection, source analysis and screening of priority pollutant in organic chemical wastewater. 4) development, demonstration and promotion of technologies for the pollution fore-warning and emergency of organic chemical wastewater in typical regions. 5) research and demonstration of the environmental management system for regional organic chemical wastewater control.

The center has allied the superior resources from the upstream R&D platforms of NJU and the downstream application enterprise such as JCOC enterprise, establishing a perfect mechanism for application and promotion of technological achievements. An integrative platform for scientific innovation and achievements transformation with industry, university and society has been preliminarily established. It plays a good role in improving the center’s capability in development research and engineering assessment of organic chemicals waste water treatment and recycling. The center has set up a base for gathering and training talents, and for research exchange and collaboration on environmental protection.
