During the World Intelligent Manufacturing Conference, the 2022 World Top 10 and 2022 China Top 10 Scientific and Technological Developments in Intelligent Manufacturing were unveiled. Among the remarkable innovations showcased was the Intelligent Inventory Scanning Robot developed by NJU.
This prestigious award is jointly presented by the International Consortium for Intelligent Manufacturing (ICIM) and the Intelligent Manufacturing Association of China. It serves to highlight the significance of novel ideas and accomplishments in the field of intelligent manufacturing, as well as to foster the exchange of scientific and technological advancements within the industry. Each year, ICIM and 15 national academies collaborate to select ten groundbreaking scientific achievements from around the globe for recognition and awards.
The conference also featured such notable companies as China Railway Engineering Equipment Group, Amazon, Siemens, Cisco, and NVIDIA, which have been selected to showcase their contributions and advancements in the field of intelligent manufacturing.
The Intelligent Inventory Scanning Robot, developed by a team led by Professor Chen Lijun, Director of the NJU Institute of Smart Robotics, in collaboration with the Shenyang Institute of Automation and Jiangsu Tooker Robotics Cooperation, is a remarkable achievement. This robot has been built from the ground up and enables fast, accurate and efficient scanning of large inventories.
The robot incorporates various cutting-edge technologies, including smart robotics, the Internet of Things (IoT), and artificial intelligence (AI). It has achieved several significant goals, such as navigating complex environments, identifying inventories in tightly packed spaces, locating moving items, and collaborating with other robots for multitasking. With the capability to scan over 20,000 items per hour and boasting an impressive accuracy rate of 99%, the robot has garnered numerous accolades, including the Special Gold Award at the International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva, the 2020 Good Technology of China award, and the Special Award at the China International Industry Fair. It is currently being utilized across various domains in more than 20 provinces.
The "Scientific and Technological Developments in Intelligent Manufacturing" encompass a broad range of areas, including equipment manufacturing, industrial robotics, aeronautics and aviation, electronics, high-tech ships, offshore equipment, energy equipment, engineering machinery, household appliances, and other key sectors of manufacturing. Notable features of these developments include digital twin technology, industrial robots, multi-machine collaboration, predictive maintenance, the industrial Internet of Things (IoT), and intelligent production lines. These advancements exemplify the progress of intelligent manufacturing in China and serve as examples for further advancements in the field.
