On October 23, 2023, Tan Zemin, President of NJU and Academician of CAS, met with President Young Jae Jeon of Konkuk University in South Korea and his delegation at the Xianlin Campus. The two sides explored further opportunities for expanding cooperation in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship.
President Tan, on behalf of the university, extended a warm welcome to President Young and his delegation. He emphasized the importance of inter-university exchanges in the development of academic institutions. He introduced of NJU’s recent achievements in talent development, scientific research, community service, innovation, entrepreneurship, and campus development. He also stressed NJU’s strong commitment to global engagement and recognized Konkuk University as an important partner of NJU. He hoped that the two universities would identify more areas of collaboration during President Young’s visit.
President Young expressed his gratitude for the warm reception from President Tan and NJU. He said that their visit aimed to promote exchanges with NJU, particularly in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship. He had gained valuable insights from the visit and was impressed by NJU’s accomplishments in innovation and entrepreneurship education, scientific research, and technological facilities. He expressed the hope that both universities, leveraging their respective strengths, would strengthen exchanges and deepen practical cooperation in areas such as entrepreneurship education, innovation competitions, and technological innovation.
During the meeting, both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on technological innovation and the industrial application of achievements in areas such as new energy materials, biomedicine, and chemical engineering. They shared a mutual commitment to further expanding exchanges and cooperation between the two universities.
Before the meeting, the delegation visited NJU’s innovative research centers and the history museum. They also had discussions with representatives from the Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the School of Foreign Studies, the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges, as well as various departments and schools.
