In July 2023, NJU and the University of Hong Kong (HKU) jointly organized the Jiangsu-Hong Kong Youth Science and Innovation Camp (the Camp) , which brought together young students from Jiangsu and Hong Kong.
On July 17, Tan Tieniu, Academician of the CAS and Secretary of the CPC NJU Committee, had a conversation with the young representatives of the Camp. SO Chi-ki, Chairman of the Arete and Executive Director of Hong Kong New Generation Cultural Association was also presented at the conversation.
Tan extended a warm welcome on behalf of NJU to the students and expressed heartfelt gratitude to Dr. SO, his team, and the students who organized the event. He encouraged the Graduate Student Unions of NJU and HKU to collaboratively explore new areas for cooperation. Additionally, Tan motivated the youth representatives at the Camp to apply the knowledge they acquired in their respective fields and fearlessly pursue advancements in science and technology.
SO Chi-ki introduced their organization’s dedication to promoting science and innovation. He expressed the hope to deepen the collaboration with NJU in the field of science and innovation, aiming to propel the development of science and innovation in both Hong Kong and Jiangsu.

The Camp itinerary was packed with various activities, including attending academic lectures, interacting with top scientists from both universities, visiting high-tech enterprises and exploring cultural heritages. It started with NJU students visiting HKU during the first week. Then in the second part, students from both Jiangsu and Hong Kong visited Jiangsu, with stops in Nanjing and Suzhou.
