On June 30, NJU and Suzhou City hold a meeting to discuss the preparations for the official launch of NJU Suzhou campus. The meeting was held at the International Conference Center on Suzhou campus. Tan Zhemin, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and President of NJU, and Wu Qingwen, the Deputy Party Secretary and Mayor of Suzhou, were both presented at the meeting. Yu Yu, the Secretary General of the Suzhou Municipal Government, hosted the meeting.
Wu Qingwen emphasized the significance of the official launch of NJU Suzhou Campus, as it represents a new milestone for both NJU and Suzhou City. He reassured the unwavering commitment of the city to collaborate closely with NJU in preparing for the campus’ inauguration. Furthermore, on behalf of Suzhou municipal government, he reiterated that they will fully support the development of the campus, aiming to create a comfortable and conducive environment that enables the faculty and students to fully realize their personal and academic potential.
Tan Zhemin pointed out that the official launch of the Suzhou Campus is the top priority for NJU this year. He expected that the joint endeavors between the two sides will drive the construction and development of the campus, especially on attracting high-level talents, nurturing exceptional innovative talent, establishing a comprehensive education system, applying research outcomes in industry, constructing large-scale scientific facilities, and engaging in joint scientific and technological research. The comprehensive and in-depth integration between NJU and Suzhou will build a thriving educational and scientific hub at the Suzhou Campus, contributing to the growth and progress of both the region and the nation as a whole.
During the meeting, leaders from various offices and departments reported on the progress of preparations for the launch of the Suzhou Campus. Participants engaged in discussions on a range of topics, including talent introduction, technological innovation, and support for campus launch.
Also present in the meeting are Lu Yanqing, Vice President of NJU, the heads of various university departments, and representatives from Suzhou municipal government and the Hi-Tech Development Zone (Huqiu District).
The Suzhou Campus will welcome its first batch of faculty and students this July, with classes scheduled to commence in September. At present, all preparations for the campus are in full swing.
