On April 9, Tan Tieniu, Member of the CPPCC Standing Committee, Academician of the CAS, and Secretary of the CPC NJU Committee, visited NJU Shenzhen Industry-Academy Research Base and held discussions with alumni in Shenzhen.
Tan inquired about the development history and incubation system of the Base, as well as the institutional operations, personnel allocation, talent cultivation, research and development platforms, and scientific research status of the Shenzhen Research Institute and Companies. He was shown the respective achievements of the cooperation in the Center for Acoustic Research and Development and the Power and Energy Storage Battery Laboratory.
Han Dong, Dean of the NJU Shenzhen Research Institute introduced the recent development of the institute. Tan congratulated the base on its achievements. He then pointed out that regarding the transformation and development of the research institute, three urgent issues need to be addressed, namely why the Institute should be established, what kind of an institute it should be, and whether it can be promoted.
Tan emphasized that the base should play five roles in the future, namely a base for industry-university-research collaborative innovation, a facilitator of the transformation and commercialization of NJU’s achievements in scientific research, a promoter of education and scientific and technological cooperation between NJU and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, especially in Hong Kong, an enabler of interactions between alumni in Shenzhen and the Greater Bay Area with NJU, and a promotor of the social influence and reputation of NJU in this area.
Tan also visited Ruisheng Technology, a company affiliated with NJU, and met with Mr. Pan Zhengmin, Founder of the Group and Member of the NJU Board of Directors. Tan praised the achievements of Ruisheng Technology in recent years and expressed sincere gratitude for its support for NJU’s development. He introduced the plannings and construction of NJU at Suzhou to members of the company. The two sides agreed on jointly carrying out scientific research projects and future cooperation and development.
On the same day, Tan also visited NJU alumni in Shenzhen and introduced the current development of the University in detail. Tan had a talk with Chen Yi, President of the Shenzhen Alumni Association. He then expressed his appreciation for the work of the Association and hoped that all alumni would continue to strengthen communication with NJU. Alumni representatives introduced their development in Shenzhen and expressed their nostalgia for the alma mater, and their determination and willingness to forge ahead with all NJUers.
