On April 4, a delegation of the Association of British Chinese Professors (ABCP) visited NJU. Tan Tieniu, Academician of CAS and Secretary of the CPC NJU Committee, received the delegation at Xianlin campus. The delegation was composed of Prof. Zhao Hua from Brunel University London, Prof. Ma Daqing from Imperial College London, Prof. Dong Hongbiao from the University of Leicester, Prof. Huang Qihai from the University of Huddersfield, Prof. Xu Hongming from the University of Birmingham, and Prof. Song Jiwen from the University of Leeds. Wang Zhenlin, Vice President of NJU, presided over the meeting. Plans for cooperation were discussed.

On behalf of NJU, Tan welcomed the delegation and introduced the history of and current academic researches at NJU. He pointed out that NJU has always represented the highest standard of Chinese higher education and has profound influence in international academia. He stressed that a world-class university must embrace globalization, which is goal NJU is working towards. NJU hopes to promote cooperation with ABCP to promote communications in various fields between China and the UK.

Professors from ABCP pointed out that their Association aims to expand its influence and facilitate in-depth cooperation between China and the UK in education, research, innovation and culture. They hope to enhance exchanges and broaden cooperation channels with NJU. Representatives from NJU, including Hu Jie, Deputy Director of the Division of Student Mobility Program, Jiang Tian, Director of Science and Technology Department, Chen Donghua, Director of the Office of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Sun Tao, Deputy Director of Human Resources, introduce the University's current development and future plans in international exchange, scientific research innovation, cultural heritage, and building of talent team. The two sides had in-depth exchanges and discussions on topics such as enhancing international schooling and strengthening scientific research cooperation in frontier fields. At the meeting, Wang Zhenlin and Ma Daqing signed the memorandum of cooperation between NJU and ABCP. Tan Tieniu and Zhao Hua witnessed the signing of the agreement.
