On November 19, the High School Affiliated to Nanjing Normal University (HSANNU) held a Development Conference in celebration of its 120th anniversary. Besides officials of all levels, celebrities and some well-known persons who attended the conference and delivered their speeches on or offline, Tan Tieniu, Academician of CAS and Secretary of CPC NJU Committee, was invited to attend the conference and deliver a speech. Zhang Junfeng, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC NJU Committee and Vice President of NJU, attended the conference as an outstanding alumnus.
This year also marks the 120th anniversary of the founding of Nanjing University. Tan reviewed the history of NJU and HSANNU and pointed out that they share the spirit of “enduring roughness in life to seek greatness in deed”. Tan commended HSANNU on setting an example for the secondary education in Jiangsu Province. Over the past 120 years, NJU and HSANNU have jointly nurtured a large number of talents now engaged in national development, scientific research, who are telling China’s stories and making outstanding contributions in various fields. In recent years, through Nanjing’s new invocative platform for education, the two educational institutes have become more deeply connected in the sharing of educational resources, collaborative cultivation of talents and the improvements of faculty qualities.
Tan pointed out that universities and secondary schools should collaborate in order to accelerate the building of a high-quality education system in the new era. NJU will promote the talent incubation program Peiyuan with HSANNU and other first-rate secondary schools to help accelerate the formation of a community for talent cultivation, promote the building of a high-quality education system in the new era, and take solid actions to help boost the country’s education and science and technology, making greater contributions to building a strong modern socialist country and realizing the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Established in 1902, NNUHS in the past 120 years has adhered to the motto “enduring roughness in life and seeking greatness in deed” and achieved greatly in cultural continuity maintaining, school governance, curriculum reform and development of teachers and students. Students graduated from the school are patriotic, innovative, and upright. Statistics show NNUHS has been for many years the greatest source of new students for NJU and a strong base for NJU’s Qiangji Program and Comprehensive Evaluation Program.
