On November 9 and 10, Tan Tieniu, Academician of CAS and Secretary of CPC NJU Committee, Lu Yanqing, Vice President of NJU, and a delegate party visited Shuangbai County in Chuxiong Prefecture, Yunnan Province for research and in-depth promotion of paired assistance. Wang Xiujiang, Vice Governor of Chuxiong Prefecture, Jin Hong, Secretary of CPC Shuangbai County Committee, and Yang Mengting, Governor of Shuangbai County, attended the research and discussion.

During their stay in Shuangbai, Tan listened to the work report of NJU Graduate Support Teaching Group at Shuangbai and had a cordial exchange with the students. Tan fully affirmed the achievements of the team and shared his experience of teaching overseas with the students. He expressed his expectation that the members of the group shall continue to show the attitude, strength and responsibility of NJU students in the western part of the motherland.

On the afternoon of November 10, Nanjing University and Shuangbai County held a symposium on the paired assistance project. Tan firstly expressed his gratitude to Chuxiong Prefecture and Shuangbai County for their strong support to the university. He then promised that NJU will focus on four aspects to strengthen the project, namely 1) to summarize the experience of mutual support and establish long-term cooperation; 2) to strengthen communication, adhere to the problem-oriented, demand-oriented and goal-oriented working procedure; 3) to continue to increase the support of education, talent, and industry, explore innovative ways to expand the scale of paired assistance; and 4) to integrate the internal and external resources of the university in further assisting of Shuangbai in terms of high-quality development.

Wang Xiujiang expressed his gratitude to NJU for supporting the development of Chuxiong over the years and his hope that NJU would continue to offer industrial assistance, contribute to the construction of rural revitalization demonstration sites, and strengthen the implementation of scientific and technological advancement in Chuxiong.
