Associate Professor Aeneas Zi Wang from the School of Social and Behavioural Sciences has been appointed to the Editorial Board of Migration Studies as an Associate Editor, with the first appointment term lasting from March 2024 to December 2025. Published by Oxford University Press, Migration Studies is a highly reputable journal in the field of demography/migration. Aeneas Zi Wang is the first scholar of East Asian heritage and based at a Chinese institution to have been appointed to the journal’s core editorial team.

Biography
Aeneas Zi Wang is Associate Professor of Sociology at the School of Social and Behavioural Sciences, Nanjing University. Prior to this, he was Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellow at the French National Institute for Oriental Languages and Civilisations (INALCO) in Paris. His research interests bridge international (Chinese) migration, demography, education and well-being from cross-regional perspectives. Aeneas Zi Wang is the sole author of two books, The Role of Language in the Wellbeing of Migrants (Routledge 2022) and The Discursive Construction of Hierarchy in Japanese Society (De Gruyter 2020). His articles have appeared in leading migration journals such as International Migration Review, International Migration, and Migration Studies. He is also the lead editor of two international publication projects at the intersection of migration, communication practices, labour market and wellbeing in Asia and Europe (Routledge forthcoming; Journal of Asian Pacific Communication 2021). Aeneas Zi Wang's research has been funded by the European Commission (Marie S. Curie Fellowship) and the German Research Foundation (DFG Research Grant). He has held visiting fellowships at Sciences Po Paris and the University of Helsinki. He was also a Fellow of the 6th German Scholars Organization Leadership Academy.
