NJU’s aesthetics education shines at the 7th China-Russia Expo

From July 10 to 13, 2023, the 7th China-Russia Expo was held in Yekaterinburg, Russia. During the Expo, NJU showcased a collection of digit art pieces created by its students from various schools and departments. The works are a testament to the accomplishments of NJU’s aesthetics education program, “Aesthetics Education & AI Training and Generation of Chinese Traditional Arts.” The program, developed by the aesthetics education team from NJU School of Arts, combines aesthetics and modern AI technologies, fostering creativity and innovation among the students.

The China-Russia Expo is the highest-level and largest comprehensive exhibition held by the two countries. The theme of this year’s Expo is “New Drivers for China-Russia Pragmatic Cooperation.” NJU exhibited digital reproductions of two traditional Chinese landscape paintings, “Digital Huang Gongwang” and “Digital Shen Zhou.” The teachers and students collaboratively trained AI algorithms to generate these digital replicas. The students are from various disciplines, including the School of Arts, the School of Software, the School of Life Sciences, and the Medical School, among others.

In recent years, NJU has achieved remarkable advancements in aesthetic education. A noteworthy accomplishment has been the establishment of six core courses, including Literature & Humanities, Visual Humanities, Music Humanities, Media Humanities, Crafts & Humanities, and Drama & Humanities. These core courses provide students with a comprehensive and diverse education in aesthetics.
