The 27th Annual Presidents’ Meeting of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) was held at the University of Hong Kong from June 25 to 27. Wang Zhenlin, Standing Member of the CPC NJU Committee and Vice President of NJU, attended the meeting on behalf of NJU.
Under the theme of “From Invention to Implementation: Solution to Sustainable Future,” this meeting brought together more than 140 presidents and representatives from 51 top global universities in the Asia-Pacific region to discuss innovative ideas and strategies for sustainable development. More than 30 reports were presented, covering a wide range of topics.
Wang Zhenlin met with Zhang Xiang, President of the University of Hong Kong and a NJU alumnus, during the meeting.
During his visit, Wang Zhenlin had a productive discussion with Thomas Schneider, the new Secretary-General of APRU. The two sides reached a consensus on future cooperation between NJU and APRU. He also exchanged views with representatives from various universities on research cooperation and talent training.
Founded in 1997 and composed of 60 high-level research universities from 19 countries and regions around the Pacific, APRU has become the most influential top international university organization in the Asia-Pacific region. Since joining APRU in 2008, NJU has actively participated in assorted events and enhanced cooperation with other APRU universities.
