On April 19, the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of NJU and New Cornerstone Science Foundation held the unveiling ceremony for the New Cornerstone Science Laboratory. Lu Yanqing, Vice President of NJU, and Xu Hao, Vice President of Sustainable Social Value Department of Tencent, attended the event. Jiang Tian, Director of the Office of Science and Technology of NJU, presided over the ceremony.

In his speech, Xu Hao stated that as an alumnus, he is honored to attend the unveiling ceremony. He pointed out that Tencent has always upheld the idea of “technology for the greater good” and is involved in scientific exploration and basic scientific research. The New Cornerstone Program enables scientists to explore freely in their respective fields. Tencent hopes to see more successful cases emerge in the scientific research chain, with outstanding basic research products moving beyond the academic realm and entering industry. He expects to deepen collaboration with NJU.  

Lu Yanqing congratulated on the founding of the Laboratory on behalf of NJU. Promoting scientific research and innovation and fostering collaboration in science and technology are crucial steps in accelerating the development of the “Unique NJU.” Basic research serves as the foundation for scientific and technological innovation. NJU will leverage its strength in basic research, continuously drive original innovation, and lead technological breakthroughs. NJU sincerely looks forward to innovating the system and mechanism together with Tencent and the New Cornerstone Foundation. 

The Laboratory is set up by New Cornerstone Science Foundation as a platform for supporting scientific research and academic exchanges. The New Cornerstone Researcher Program is a public welfare initiative that provides funding for basic research, emphasizing originality and encouraging free exploration.
