On the afternoon of April 27, Yu Tianqi, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of Center for Language Education and Cooperation of MOE, visited NJU with her delegation to hold discussions on developing international Chinese education and communication. Wang Zhenlin, Vice President of NJU and Member of CPC NJU Committee, attended the discussion. Zhao Wenshu, Dean of the Institute of Foreign Students of NJU, presided over the meeting.
Wang welcomed Yu and her delegation and briefly introduced the history of international Chinese education at NJU and the achievements in this field in recent years. He emphasized that strengthening the capacity of international Chinese education and communication is a significant component of telling Chinese story well. NJU is committed to enhancing the growth of international Chinese education by focusing on talent development and team building.
Yu Tianqi introduced new situations and demands of international Chinese education. She urged NJU to give full play to its strong disciplines, resources and high-end platforms, and take an active part in international Chinese education of the new era. It is vital to innovate and strive to lead the development of the capacity for international Chinese education and communication based on a solid theoretical foundation and ample practice.
Feng Weibo, Deputy Director of the Quality Evaluation Research Base of International Chinese Education at NJU, gave a brief report on the work and development of the Base.
Experts attending the meeting included Cong Cong, Director of the Johns Hopkins University– Nanjing University Center for Chinese and American Studies, Xia Wenrong, Associate Professor of the School of Journalism and Communication, Xie Shanqing, General Editor of Jiangsu People’s Publishing House, Li Fengyuan, Deputy General Manager of Jiangsu Phoenix Vocational Education Book Co., Ltd., Gao Yan, Deputy General Manager of Jiangsu Qiuzhen Yilin Publishing House, and Zhao Su, Deputy Director of the International Affairs Department of Jiangsu Radio and Television Station. They shared their views and offered their suggestions.
