On April 18, Zou Yajun, Standing Member of CPC NJU Committee and Vice President of NJU, met with Consul General Gonzalo Figueroa from the Consulate General of the Republic of Chile at Shanghai and his delegation to discuss future cooperation. Heads of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges, Institute for International Students, and Spanish Department of the School of Foreign Studies attended the meeting.
Zou extended a warm welcome to the guests on behalf of NJU. He briefed the guests on the history and current development of NJU and reviewed its cooperation with Chile, including the establishment of Confucius Institute. Zou also pointed out NJU is committed to maintaining communication and cooperation with universities in Chile and to promoting win-win situations in China-Chile relations.
Figueroa spoke highly of the contributions of the NJU Confucius Institute to the cultural exchange between Chile and China. He remarked that his visit aims at promoting cooperation between the Biobío Province and Jiangsu Province through NJU in the fields of culture and education to enhance mutual trust and friendship. The Chilean Consulate General at Shanghai will persist in guaranteeing two-way exchanges between the two countries.
After the meeting, Figueroa discussed and exchanged views with representatives of faculty and students from the Spanish Department, School of Foreign Studies.
