On April 19 at NJU, Zhang Junfeng, Vice President of NJU, met with Jon Frampton, Vice President of the University of Birmingham (UOB). The two parties discussed the prospect of deepening communication and promoting cooperation between the two universities. Representatives from various schools and departments attended the meeting.
Zhang welcomed the delegation and introduced the development of NJU in recent years, including the construction of NJU at Suzhou and its promotion of international cooperation. He also reviewed the cooperation of the two universities in researches in the humanities and science.
Frampton said that while Birmingham and Nanjing are Friendship Cities, he himself also has quite a connection with the city. He introduced the new measures at the UOB to cope with global climate change and promote sustainable development. He remarked that the outstanding scholars and researchers at the UOB hope to strengthen their partnership with their counterparts at NJU.
Bi Jun, Professor at the School of Environment, Wang Minghuai, Professor at the School of Atmospheric Sciences, Li Gaojun, Professor at the School of Earth Sciences and Engineering, and Zhao Cheng and Zhong Taiyang, Professors at the School of Geography and Ocean Science, offered their opinions for the strengthening the bonds between the two universities. Both parties agree to develop together through CSC programs, all-English summer camps for students and joint education programs.
