On November 10, the 5th China International Import Expo (CIIE) came to a close. A total of 145 countries, regions, and international organizations participated in the expo.
The NJU team of the “Nighthawk: Low-Light Enhancement Full-Color Video Imaging” Project, which wins the global grand prize at the recent Intel AI Global Impact Festival, was invited to participate in the expo. The team is supervised by Professor Peng Chenglei from the School of Electronic Science and Engineering.
On the afternoon of November 5, Vice Minister Zhang Yunming, Member of the Party Group of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, who visited the exhibition area and carefully observed the technical details of NJU's project, highly commended the technological innovation it has achieved.
“Nighthawk” is a new type of low-light full-color night vision system based on artificial intelligence. It can achieve real-time high-definition full-color imaging in an ultra-low illuminance environment of 0.001 lux without supplemental lighting, significantly improving target detection accuracy. Peng Chenglei said that the "Nighthawk" has broad application prospects in fields such as national defense, eco protection, scientific research, and deep-sea expeditions.
The project team is composed of undergraduates Cai Libenhua, Chen Weiyu, and Zhao Yufei. Their invited participation in the 5th CIIE reflects the achievements of NJU in promoting the integration of science and education as well as the cultivation of undergraduate talents.
“We are honored to have been invited to participate in CIIE and showcase the achievement of NJU. We will continue to explore the forefront of science and technology and dedicate ourselves to research. As students of NJU, we will make every effort to contribute to the better life for mankind and social progress with technological innovation,” said the Nighthawk team.
