To enhance its commitment to educational support, NJU has been actively involved in fostering sister school connections between Shuangbai No.1 High School in Chuxiong Prefecture, Yunnan Province, and Pui Kiu Middle School in Hong Kong. On December 12, the signing ceremony took place simultaneously online in Nanjing, Chuxiong, and Hong Kong. This collaborative effort aims to strengthen educational ties and facilitate mutual growth and development between the participating institutions.
Tan Tieniu, academician of CAS and secretary of CPC NJU Committee, delivered a speech via video. He first expressed special thanks to the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong SAR, Education Bureau of Hong Kong SAR Government and the prefectural government of Chuxiong. He also hoped that these two schools will enhance communication and cooperation and strive to serve as a model for the communication and development of basic education in Yunnan and Hong Kong in the new era.
In his speech, Ye Shuiqiu, Vice Minister of the Educational and Scientific Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong SAR, highlighted the significant attention that General-secretary Xi Jinping has placed on fostering communication and cooperation between Hong Kong and the mainland. He noted that, to date, more than 2,200 pairs of sister schools have been established between Hong Kong and the mainland. The partnership between Shuangbai No.1 High School and Pui Kiu Middle School marks the 18th sister school pair between Hong Kong and Yunnan. Ye Shuiqiu emphasized that the sister-school relationship between these two educational institutions can serve as a model for innovative cooperation and development in basic education. It stands as a benchmark for fostering collaboration and exchanging ideas, contributing to the overall progress and advancement of education in both regions.
Liu Yong, Secretary of CPC Chuxiong Prefecture Committee, extended heartfelt gratitude to NJU for its continuous support and assistance over the past nine years. He commended NJU’s innovative approach in collaborating with top-tier educational resources to drive the high-quality development of basic education in Shuangbai. Recognizing the significance of the sister-school relationship between the two institutions, he emphasized that it symbolizes a remarkable milestone, signifying a new era of education in Chuxiong. This partnership sets the stage for further progress and growth in the educational landscape of the region.
Yin Qiong, Principal of Shuangbai No.1 High School, and Wu Huanjie, Principal of Pui Kiu Middle School, signed the cooperation agreement at the meeting.
