NJU holds seminar on the theory and practice of Chinese path to modernization and launches new book the Chinese path to modernization

On November 20, a seminar on the theory and practice of Chinese path to modernization and the launching ceremony for the monograph The Chinese Path to Modernization was held at NJU. Zhang Aijun, Member of CPC Jiangsu Committee and Head of the Provincial Publicity Department, and Tan Tieniu, Academician of the CAS and Secretary of CPC NJU Committee, attended the ceremony. Zhang and Tan jointly launched The Chinese Path to Modernization by Hong Yinxing, Distinguished scholar in the humanities and social science, Head of the National Research Center for Socialist Political Economy with Chinese Characteristics, and Former Secretary of CPC NJU Committee. Liu Wei, Former President of Renmin University and other guests gave keynote speeches on the conference. Yang Zhong, Executive Deputy Secretary of CPC NJU Committee and Head of the Institute of Xi Jinping Thought on Economy, hosted the ceremony.

Zhang Aijun said that the 20th National Congress of CPC points out that China needs to advance the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts in modernized, Chinese way. The country is planning on building a great socialist modern country and will realize its modernization goals through following the overall guidance of the CPC and taking a socialist path. China’s modernization should always focus on improving the people’s lives, and further the achievements of the Reform and Opening Up. Embarking on a new journey, Jiangsu should persist in promoting the modernization and work hard to become a model in this respect. Zhang pointed out theories on the Chinese path to modernization is based on the foundation of ample practice and urged scholars to base their scholarly research on practice and contribute more to bringing about modernization with Chinese characteristics in Jiangsu.

Tan Tieniu pointed out that focusing on the pressing questions of "What is the Chinese path to modernization? How should we achieve it?", General-secretary Xi Jinping has profoundly revealed the significance of promoting the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through a Chinese path to modernization, and clearly expounded its historical process, Chinese characteristics, essential requirements, strategy and arrangement, goals and main tasks, and major working principles. As an important institute for the research on political economy with Chinese characteristics, NJU has always prioritized relevant studies, The Chinese Path to Modernization being the latest achievement.

An Tongliang, Dean of Business School, NJU, delivered a speech on behalf of the School. He expressed his hope that the experts and scholars will combine documentary research with on-hand practice to produce first-class studies on the Chinese path to modernization.

Zhang Aijun, Tan Tieniu, Hong Yinxing, and Sun Zhenfu, Secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Phoenix Publishing & Media Group Committee jointly launched The Chinese Path to Modernization. Xu Hai, Deputy General Manager and Editor-in-Chief of Jiangsu Phoenix Publishing & Media Group, introduced the planning and publishing process of this book. Lin Haitao, Deputy General Manager of Phoenix, presented a copy of the book to Huang Xianjin, Director of Nanjing University Library, as a gift. The ceremony was hosted by Wang Baoding, President of Jiangsu People's Publishing House.

The keynotes session was hosted by Ge Yang, Executive Director of the National Research Center for Socialist Political Economy with Chinese Characteristic. Experts including Hong Yinxin, Liu Wei, Pang Jinju, Jin Bei, Liu Can, Huang Taiyan, Li Jianping, Liu Zhibiao, Zhang Jun, Huang Guitian, Hu Leming, Lin Muxi, Yang Zhong, Sun Jieguang, Fang Fuqian, Qiu Haiping, Fan Conglai, Shen Kunrong and Zhang Erzhen shared their views on the innovative development of economic studies in China during the new era. Scholars from seven institutes of political economy studies with Chinese socialist characteristics, as well as the heads of relevant departments and faculties of NJU attended the seminar on- or offline.
