UNESCO has recently approved Nanjing University's application for the Peace Studies Program Chair of the UN organization.

Nanjing University has been acknowledged at home and abroad as China's center for peace studies.

Over the past decade, with the efforts of Professor Liu Cheng and his team, the university has become the first in China to offer peace studies courses, put out peace studies publications, hosted international peace studies conferences, held peace studies training programs and carried out peace activities. It has made important contributions to the development of peace studies in China and international cooperation in this area.

As one of the key programs of the UNESCO, the Chairs Program has over the years provided an important international academic platform for universities and research institutes in the world.
