Nanjing University contributed 16 cutting-edge technology achievements and 3 student startup teams to the exhibition of the 19th China International Industry Fair (CIIF), held between November 7 and 11, 2017, at China’s National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), the world’s top facility of its kind.

At CIIF’s College Exhibition Area, NJU put on display exhibits involving new material, new energy, resource saving, environment protecting, and artificial intelligence (AI), interesting many visitors and attracting several investors to ask for more information.

After appraisals of many levels, NJU garnered four awards, the first prize of Excellent Exhibits, a prize of Excellent Startup & Innovative Exhibits, the Excellent Organization Prize, and the Outstanding Person Prize.

One of the exhibits, the “amphibious multi-functional six-legged robot,” designed by NJU’s School of Management and Engineering, won the prize of Excellent Startup and Innovative Exhibits. This robot was built after the teachers and students considered the characteristics and behavior of amphibians and incorporated the latest AI calculation. It can not only adapt to the varied topography of land and offshore shallows, but also meet the working requirements of complex water environment.

Since its founding in 1999, CIIF has undergone 18 years of marketization, specialization, internationalization and brand-cultivation and has become China’s manufacturing industry’s most influential international industrial brand exhibition, with the recognition of the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI).

With the theme of “smart and green manufacturing, hi-tech equipment and innovative technology,” this year’s CIIF focused on the major areas of development area by the “Made in China 2025” strategy. It strived to expand industrial space and demonstrate cutting-edge achievements.

While Nanjing University demonstrated its effort at AI technology, providing solutions to industrial upgrading and transformation and promoting industries’ innovative development, it also continues its effort at the development of China’s manufacturing industries and propelling China’s transformation from merely a big manufacturing country into a strong manufacturing country.
